Calamus SL2000 Features
(State: 05/2000)

SL2000 is the current Calamus for all important platforms. Only one document format for Mac, Windows and Atari. The multi-platform application is available for Windows (order the 'WindowsPack', please), TOS platforms and Apple Macintosh (order the 'TOSPack' for both TOS and Mac – MagiC Mac is required for Mac, too). Now as before we put much energy in fixing old program bugs and implementing new features. Making Calamus more stable than ever is our highest priority, we never had a more stable SL.

• Apple: Mac OS versions 7.6 up to Mac OS 9 with MagiC Mac (not included in the SL2000 package!), 100 MHz and more are recommended.
• Windows: Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/Win2000 with SL2000 WindowsPack (please chose 'WindowsPack' when ordering!), at least 300 MHz recommended.
• TOS: all actual TOS systems (Atari TT, Falcon, Hades, Milan etc.) as well as their derivats and emulations (STEmulator, MagiC PC etc.). Please chose 'TOS-Pack' when ordering.

• Hardware: at least 20 MB space on hard disk and at least 8 MB RAM for Calamus required, much more space on hard disk and in RAM are recommended for better performance.
• Screen resolution: at least 640 x 480 Pixel, 256 colors or TrueColor.

We put the Calamus SL2000 upgrade to the list of high important wishes to all Calamus users, who did not decide to upgrade until now. You will find many advantages working with the actual Calamus SL2000.

	Calamus SL 2000 (CALAMUS.PRG) – 2000 R1 PRG [2000-08-08] New: Undo:Calamus SL2000 offers a completely new Undo concept for as many Undo/Redo steps as you like it. The first function group which has been implemented, is the Frame Editing function group (delete, move, resize, etc.). More functions follow step-by-step until the release date. New: History: The Calamus File Selector now remembers all 'Last Documents'. New: Rotate Frames: All frames own new grab points for direct rotation in the layout by mouse movements. Of course to be switched on/off ... New: Frame Borders: Frame borders now rotate together with the frame and its contents. Therefore, rotated frames may be grabbed at their rotated edges. New: Frame Information: The frame type information can be switched visible/invisible independant from the frame borders now. New: Piping per Mouse: Text frames can now be piped with a few mouse clicks. New: Automatic Text Flow Around Objects: Text can flow around all frame types automatically with editable distances. New: Edit Rotated Text: Text and text rulers can be edited in rotated state. New: Document Move Mode: The visible part of the document can be moved by mouse directly in the document layout window. New: Farbdialog: Komplett überarbeitet und neugestaltet, so dass Du Farben in Calamus noch effektiver definieren, ändern und nutzen kannst. Der im Farbdialog eingebaute Grau-nach-K-Konverter und die Farbsortierung machen das Pflegen Deiner Farblisten noch einfacher. New: Transparencies On-Screen: Transparent frame contents will be shown (and merged) on-screen now as already in output mode. New: Document Manager: You can create multi-page documents with ready-to-go piped text frames in multi column layouts very easy now. New: SetDate: When outputting your pages, the system date, file name and file path can be printed automatically, too. New: TrueType Fontloader: Get access to TTF fonts (in PC format) finally - directly use them in Calamus beside and like your CFN fonts. 	Calamus SL 99 (CALAMUS.PRG) – 1999 R1 PRG [1999-05-11] New: Font Embedding: All loadable fonts can be embedded in the document (never again waste time looking for fonts when re-loading old documents). New: Type-1 Fontloader: Get access to Type-1 PostScript fonts in Mac (no specified file suffix) and PC format (suffix PFB) - directly use them in Calamus beside and like your CFN fonts. New: Preview is available, first for fonts and some raster image formats (document and module preview under process). New: Create Frame mode is no longer a default. Now you create a frame and the mouse cursor automatically switches back to the Frame Edit mode. New: The module panels are placed in real GEM windows now. New: Frame-dependant Mouse Actions: Double clicks etc. in document windows can be defined now (e.g. define a double click on a text frame with pressed Alternate key to call the text editor Eddie). New: When moving tabulators, a help line is shown now. New: Auto-Importmodus eingeführt: Kein Auswählen der Treiber mehr nötig. New: The general output resolution limit has been removed. New: Images can be decompressed when Fixing Document. New: The color of the Calamus help text output can be defined now. New: Topleiste: Seiten-Navigationspfeile sind grau, wenn keine weitere Seite folgt. New: Alles selektieren ist jetzt für Module freigeschaltet. New: Dialog-Handling: Doppelklicks können per ALT+LEERTASTE simuliert werden. New: Die Größe des Dokuments wird vor dem Sichern (auf Wunsch?) ermittelt und der freie Speicher auf dem Medium wird geprüft. New: Größe des aktuellen Dokuments wird in Bytes auf dem Statistik-Dialog gezeigt. New: Anzeige der Gesamtseitenzahl (z.B. Seite 3/7) in der Dokument-Titelleiste. New: Wenn im Klemmbrett noch Daten liegen, kommt am Programmende eine Warnmeldung. New: Wenn nicht alle Farben zur separierten Ausgabe angeschaltet sind, kommt vor dem Drucken eine Warnmeldung. New: Wenn Rahmen vom Klemmbrett in aktive Textrahmen verankert werden sollen, kommt jetzt eine Sicherheitsfrage vorweg. New: Beim Verschieben von Tabulatoren in Textlinealen wird jetzt eine senkrechte Hilfslinie gezeigt. Fix: Bug in Rahmencache-Neuberechnung behoben (falsche Darstellung nach Vergrößerungswechsel). Fix: Seiten-Logik: Nach Änderung der Seitenlage kam es u.U. zu Dokument-Strukturfehlern beim Einfügen von Dokumenten, Löschen von Seiten, Ändern des Seitenformats von Einzel- nach Doppelseiten-Dokument etc. Fix: Der Hintergrund hinter der Druck-Anzeige wird nicht mehr erst nach Verlassen des Drucken-Dialogs wiederhergestellt. Fix: Darstellung von Radio- und Checkboxen bei älteren as-Modulen korrigiert. Fix: Ermittlung der max. Dateinamenlänge behoben (umgeht Probleme mit älteren MagiC-Versionen). Fix: Rahmen-Editor erzeugt keine Müllsegmente mehr bei Multiselektion. Fix: Leere Verzeichnisse boten z.T. nur 8+3-Darstellung in der Dateiauswahlbox. Fix: Setzen des Mauscursors in Dialog-Eingabefeldern wieder direkt zwischen Buchstaben möglich. Fix: Mauszeiger des Textlineals (+) blieb manchmal auch über anderen Fenstern (z.B. Topleiste). Fix: Unsichtbar geschaltete Maskengruppen wurden nicht gedruckt, wenn beim Drucken Alle Rahmentypen (statt Sichtbare) selektiert wurden. Fix: Ein Fehler in der Fontverwaltung führte manchmal zum Verwürfeln der Fontliste und somit zu falsch zugeordneten Fonts bei Stilen. Der Fehler trat beim Ersetzen von Fonts und beim Einfügen von Dokumenten auf. Fix: Interne Behandlung der Fenstertitel ist fehlerhaft (u.U. geschrottete Fenstertitel).
	Calamus SL 98 (CALAMUS.PRG) – 1998 R1 PRG [1998-01-05] New: Automatic Esthetic Text Justification: Some characters may now reach over the right resp. left border of the block text, according to their weight to give the appearance of an optically smoothed text block. – Calamus SL offered this feature already one year before InDesign claimed this feature to be new! New: Super-/SubScript: Position and size can be defined as you like it. New: New Line Distance Type: Line Grid. Set your (multi-column) text layouts in perfect register (even with more than one line grid per page!) - it is so easy now! New: All frame types can be anchored in text frames directly from the Calamus clip board. New: 3D dialogs (with WindowsPack, MagiC and other Multitasking AES available) New: Frame Handling: New: Copy frames on mouse dragging, new mouse cursor forms give visual state reports, etc. New: Coordinates Control Calculates: [+] [–] [/] [*] [^] and brackets New: Raster Image Converter: The Frame Module's special function group for raster images now converts between all used color formats to and fro: Monochrome, Grey, Grey (Pallette), RGB, RGB (Pallette), CYMK. New: Frames can be placed on the document's desktop (document window background) visible! Interesting new work area. New: Neuer GEM-Importtreiber im Lieferumfang. New: Completely Redesigned Dialog Handling: All dialog objects can be used by keyboard, like with MS Windows. New: Thus you can finally scroll all list objects in all dialogs by keyboard. New: RasterCacheGenerator can be called from the Print dialog. New: RasterCacheGenerator can be switched off to give access to the built-in Ordered-Dithering Screen Raster (good choice for ink jets). New: Save Settings Automatically - now optional when quitting Calamus.

All modules and drivers which are a part of the Calamus SL standard package will be shipped with the actual version. All additional modules and drivers from MGI (DMC), adequate systems, FRS and invers that are registered here for your Calamus version will be added to actual versions if neccessary. Your old CFN fonts can still be used.

If you own additional modules for a Windows Calamus, we will add the SL equivalents, where possible. Example: You bought Bridge v2.0 for Calamus NT 1.0, you will receive Bridge 2.0 for SL with your SL2000 upgrade. We will offer an upgrade to Bridge 4.x with enhanced functions with the shipment.
