1999-04-27: SL99 almost done

Many of the inquiries and calls we received in the last few days have one topic only: When will the SL99 be shipped?

We have done the biggest part of the work; the 96 page SL99 manual addendum will be printed today. Calamus itself gets the final dressings and we all hope to finish the master disks of the German SL99 version this week and ship the first of the big pack orders.

With only a one week delay, we will come very close to our goal to ship all orders received through the end of April. If you put all those pre-orders and the greater shipping packages into amount (many of you ordered both the Windows and the TOS/Mac Pack), we do feel fine with this one week delay.

The next release will be the English version of Calamus SL99. We hope to get it done in the middle of May 99. The other language versions (French, Czech, Dutch and Spanish) will follow immediately.

Here are some detailed features as another addition to our first Newsletter announcements and our SL99 mailing:

• Instead of the old (and buggy) version 2.0 of BRIDGE we will ship a BRIDGE 3 light version in the SL99 package. The light version does not provide some of the luxury functions and PostScript export which is still the most important feature of the full version. – The upgrade price for the full version has decreased to only 249 DM.
• The typical Calamus Function Panels which are placed in real windows since SL99, can be fixed from now on. You can define a panel state and fix it so it will not change any more. Copy e.g. a second panel, place it on the desktop and define it to show the function group Text Rulers from the Text module. From now on this second panel will always show the mentioned function group, no matter what you select in the module bar. Another tiny feature which might increase your workflow speed in Calamus.
